The quiet bousouzoku

In Japan, bousouzoku are juveniles who ride loud, customized, bikes around town. I never encountered them before during my previous stays in Japan, so I was a bit curious about them. Around the interwebs, folks seemed to have nothing but bad things to say about them, in particular pointing out how obnoxiously loud their bikes are.

Well the other day I took a long walk and happened to see and hear a few bousouzoku riding by.
Yawn.
I find their outfits to be showy, but ultimately goofy looking. They seem to put a deal of effort into their appearance, though they just end up looking like clowns to me. But hey, if it makes them happy, good for them! We all do things others may not appreciate or understand. And their bikes, while louder than other vehicles on the road, I found to be disappointingly quiet. Any Harley would put them to shame.

I honestly don’t believe the noise they create is anything to complain about. If it wakes you up at night, investing in a pair of earplugs will work wonders.
